Easton, Pa. - Two days after he shattered the Lafayette single-game record for touchdowns (five) and tied the Patriot League mark by hurling seven scoring strikes against nationally-ranked Colgate, senior quarterback Rob Curley has been named National Player of the Week by The Sports Network and College Sporting News. The FCS honors go along with his second straight Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week laurel and third of his career.

Curley led Lafayette to a 56-49 shootout win over No. 20/18 Colgate. He completed 18-of-31 passes for a career-high 373 yards and seven touchdowns, tying the Patriot League mark for passing touchdowns in a game established by Holy Cross' Jeff Wiley against Lehigh (Sept. 26, 1987). The touchdowns went to five different players, including two in the fourth quarter to break a 42-42 tie, and his passing yardage was a career best for the third consecutive week.

In 2009, Curley has thrown for 2,432 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions and is completing 68 percent (187-of-276) of his passes. He ranks second nationally in passing efficiency and is Lafayette's all-time leader in single-season completion percentage.

Curley is the fifth different Patriot Leaguer to earn a national honor from College Sporting News or The Sports Network this season, and joins Holy Cross senior quarterback Dominic Randolph as a recipient from both organizations.

No. 20 Lafayette will go to No. 13/14 Holy Cross on Saturday with the Patriot League title and automatic berth to the Football Championship Subdivision postseason going to the winner.
