CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After a weekend filled with standout performances, Colgate junior quarterback Gavin McCarney stood above a strong group to earn the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday.
McCarney carried 19 times for 288 yards and three touchdowns and also completed 13-of-17 passes for 224 yards and two scores to lead Colgate to a 65-41 win over Lafayette on Saturday. His 288 rushing yards and 512 yards of total offense were both the second-best marks in Patriot League history, and McCarney led Colgate to League records in both rushing (531) and total offense (755).
In addition to McCarney, weekly awards went to Bucknell senior Samuel Oyekoya and freshman Brian Regan and Fordham senior Patrick Murray following the 27-24 win for the Bison. Oyekoya had five tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks to earn the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week award, while Regan was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week after averaging 33.3 yards on three kickoff returns. Murray won his sixth Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week award of the season after making three field goals against the Bison, setting the Patriot League and school record with 21 field goals for the year.
Honorable mention status went to Lehigh senior wide receiver Ryan Spadola and senior quarterback Mike Colvin, Colgate senior running back Jordan McCord and Bucknell senior running back Tyler Smith, who all put up outstanding performances of their own on offense.

McCarney led Colgate to a record-setting offensive day in a 65-41 win over Lafayette, and nearly broke the Patriot League single-game rushing mark by carrying 19 times for 288 yards and three touchdowns. It was second in League history only to a 291-yard day by Colgate's Nate Eachus in 2010. McCarney also completed 13-of-17 passes for 224 yards and a score to amass a school-record 512 yards of total offense, which stands second in Patriot League history. Colgate set school and Patriot League records with 531 rushing yards and 755 yards of total offense, and the 65-point total was the second-best mark in League history. McCarney leads the nation with 12.2 points per game, making him the only quarterback in the top 70 on the list. He is named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in Colgate's last five games.
Oyekoya helped Bucknell put an end to a seven-game losing streak by recording five tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in a 27-24 win over Fordham on Saturday. He tied his career high for tackles for loss and sacks, with one coming on Fordham's final possession to push the Rams out of field goal range. Oyekoya leads the Patriot League with 7.5 sacks for the season. He is named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the first time.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Patrick Murray, P/K, Fordham Sr., 5-7, 182 (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco Prep)
Murray broke the school and Patriot League record with his first field goal in Saturday's 27-24 loss to Bucknell, then added two more for his fourth consecutive game with three field goals. Murray has 21 field goals for the season, breaking the previous school and League mark of 18 set by Matt Fordyce in 2002. Murray has four more field goals than anyone in the country, and also leads the nation with a 46.0 punting average after punting three times for a 40.7 average on Saturday. He is named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week for the sixth time this season, and fourth consecutive week where he was in action.
Rookie of the Week
Brian Regan, RB, Bucknell Fr., 5-9, 190 (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East)
Regan averaged 33.3 yards on three kickoff returns to help set up a pair of scores in Bucknell's 27-24 win over Fordham. He had a 40-yard return that led to a score, and the Bison had an average drive start of the 40-yard line on his returns. Regan earns his first Patriot League Rookie of the Week award.
Ryan Spadola, WR, Lehigh Sr., 6-3, 205 (Howell, N.J./Freehold Township)
Spadola had eight receptions for 202 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 33-yard reception with 2:00 left, to help keep No. 6/8 Lehigh undefeated with a 36-35 win at Holy Cross on Saturday. Spadola moved up to second in Patriot League history in career receiving yards (3,438) and tied for third in receptions (217) with the performance.
Jordan McCord, RB, Colgate Sr., 5-10, 205 (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young)
McCord carried 27 times for 203 yards and four touchdowns to help Colgate set Patriot League and school records with 531 rushing yards and 755 yards of total offense in a 65-41 win over Lafayette on Saturday.
Mike Colvin, QB, Lehigh Sr., 6-3, 230 (Morristown, N.J./Morristown)
Colvin completed 24-of-34 passes for 362 yards and three touchdowns without an interception and also ran for 59 yards and two scores to lead No. 6/8 Lehigh to a 36-35 win at Holy Cross on Saturday.
Tyler Smith, RB, Bucknell Sr., 5-9, 195 (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn)
Smith carried 29 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a 26-yard touchdown pass to lead Bucknell to a 27-24 win over Fordham on Saturday.
