Center Valley, Pa. - Fordham claimed two of the Patriot League Football weekly awards on Monday, with senior quarterback John Skelton named Offensive Player of the Week and junior defensive back Isa Abdul El-Quddus selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for their performances in Saturday's 39-27 win at Cornell. Colgate and Lehigh grabbed the remaining honors, as Colgate's Evan Colborne claimed the Special Teams Player of the Week award and Lehigh's Michael Colvin was named Rookie of the Week for the second straight time.

Skelton had a huge day in the Rams' victory, completing 20-of-27 passes for a school-record 420 yards and five touchdowns and also running for another score. He had 309 passing yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone. El-Quddus tallied three interceptions and six tackles in Fordham's win. Colborne had a field goal and four extra points for a career-high seven points in Colgate's 31-14 win at Dartmouth. Colvin led Lehigh with 64 rushing yards on 12 carries in a 7-0 loss to Yale.

Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week

Skelton receives the Offensivre Player of the Week award for the second time in the past three weeks, and fourth in his career, after throwing for a school-record 420 yards and tossing five touchdown passes while running for another in Fordham's 39-27 win at Cornell on Saturday. He completed 20-of-27 passes in the game and threw four touchdown passes of 50 yards or more. Skelton threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone. He tied a Patriot League record for longest scoring pass with a 98-yarder to Asa Lucas in the second quarter, and connected nine times for 245 yards and four touchdowns with Jason Caldwell. It was Skelton's second-career 400-yard game, and he is up to at least seventh in Patriot League history in completions, yards, touchdowns, attempts, total offense and touchdowns responsible for. Skelton is second in the country to only Holy Cross' Dominic Randolph in passing yards and total offense per game this season, and directs a Fordham offense that leads the FCS in total offense per game.

 

 

Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

Isa Abdul El-Quddus, Fordham Jr., DB, 6'1, 200, Union, N.J./Union
El-Quddus tied the Fordham record with three interceptions and also shared for the team lead with six tackles in the Rams' 39-27 victory at Cornell on Saturday. He totaled 81 return yards on the three interceptions, including a 37-yard run back on his final pick that set up Fordham's last touchdown. El-Quddus had five solo stops and a pass breakup in the game and earns his first Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week

Evan Colborne, Colgate Fr., K, 5'11, 180, Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough
Colborne had a career-high seven points in Colgate's 31-14 win over Georgetown on Saturday, including a 30-yard field goal that gave the Raiders a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. He converted all four of his extra point attempts and had a career-high six kickoffs.

Patriot League Rookie of the Week

Michael Colvin, Lehigh Fr., QB, 6'3, 215, Morristown, N.J./Morristown
Colvin earns his second straight Rookie of the Week award after leading the Mountain Hawks with 64 rushing yards in a 7-0 loss to Yale on Saturday. He averaged 5.3 yards on 12 carries with a long rush of 13 yards. Colvin is Lehigh's second-leading rusher with 225 yards on 33 carries this season, and leads the team with a 6.8 yards per carry average.
