Hamilton, N.Y. - Colgate tailback Jordan Scott has been named to the Walter Payton Award watch list Tuesday by the Sports Network. The award goes to the most outstanding player in the FCS.

Colgate is one of four schools to have two winners of the Walter Payton Award with Kenny Gamble winning in 1987 and Jamaal Branch in 2003.

Scott is currently the second leading rusher in the FCS, averaging 174.7 yards per game. Last Saturday, he became only the second player in school history to record three consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He has carried 229 times for 1,048 yards in the first six games.

Scott is currently fourth in career rushing for the Raiders with 3,646 yards. He needs 43 yards for third place ahead of Rich Erenberg (1980-83).

Colgate linebacker Mike Gallihugh remained on the Buchanan Award (top defensive player) Watch list after the first revision. Gallihugh leads the Patriot League with 71 tackles and also has 4.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks and two interceptions.

The winner of the Walter Payton Award and the Buck Buchanan Award will be announced at the annual Sports Network awards banquet on Dec. 13 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
