Center Valley, Pa. - Five teams are currently tied for first place in the Patriot League Football standings with a 1-0 record, but No. 17/18 Colgate can break out of the pack as the Raiders visit Georgetown in a League contest on Saturday at 1 p.m. The other four teams in action all play a game against an opponent from the Ivy League, with the season series between the conferences tied, 7-7, heading into the final weekend matchups this season.

Colgate enters the game against Georgetown in a tie for the Patriot League lead with Bucknell, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh, with each squad sporting a 1-0 record. After this weekend, every Patriot League team except for Georgetown will have only League action left on the schedule.
Lafayette, Lehigh, Fordham and No. 25/24 Holy Cross will be in action against an Ivy League opponent. The Leopards are Harvard, Fordham goes to Cornell and Lehigh hosts Yale in 12:30 p.m. start times on Saturday, while the Crusaders host Dartmouth in a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Patriot and Ivy League have finished in a 9-9 tie in their matchups in each of the past two years, with the PL trying to claim its first season series over the Ivies since 2004.
Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette all claimed a position in at least one Football Championship Subdivision poll this week. The Raiders, who are one of five undefeated teams left in the FCS with a 6-0 record, are ranked nationally at No. 17 in The Sports Network top 25 and No. 18 in the FCS Coaches poll. Colgate holds the longest regular-season winning streak in the FCS at 14 games. Holy Cross remained in both the national polls after losing to Brown on Saturday, with the Crusaders coming in at No. 25 in The Sports Network rankings and No. 24 in the FCS Coaches poll. Lafayette received votes in each of the polls. All three teams held a spot in the first ECAC Lambert FCS top 10 poll, with Colgate at No. 5, Holy Cross at No. 7 and Lafayette tied at No. 10 with Saturday's opponent, Harvard.

No. 17/18 Colgate and Georgetown meet in a Patriot League clash on Saturday at Multi-Sport Field, with the Raiders trying to stay unbeaten and the Hoyas searching for their first win of the year...Colgate will also claim sole possession of first place in the Patriot League with a win...The teams did not meet last year, as an illness on Georgetown's campus forced the game scheduled for Oct. 4 at Colgate to be cancelled...They have only faced off as Patriot League members, with Colgate winning each of the six contests from 2002-07...The Raiders scored a 45-12 victory the last time the teams met in 2007, which was also at Multi-Sport Field...Colgate is 3-0 all-time at Georgetown...The Raiders have scored at least 30 points and won by 17 or more in five of the six meeetings...The one exception came in 2003, when Colgate held on for a 20-19 win in Georgetown...That Raider team won its first 15 games of the year, and Colgate's current six-game season-opening win streak is the longest since that season...Colgate is trying to win its seventh straight Patriot League game, and open League play with a 2-0 mark for the second season in a row and sixth time in the last seven years...Georgetown is trying to avoid losing its first seven games of the season for the first time since 2007.
Colgate Colgate improved to 6-0 on the season by taking down Princeton, 21-14, in a nationally-televised contest on ESPNU on Thursday...The Raiders continue their best start of the season since winning their first 15 games in 2003, and are one of only five remaining undefeated teams in the FCS...It was Colgate's 14th-consecutive regular-season victory, the longest streak in the nation...Colgate has won six consecutive games against Ivy League foes over the past two seasons, sweeping Dartmouth, Cornell and Princeton each year...The Raiders complete their non-League schedule with a 5-0 mark...Nate Eachus ran for 102 yards and scored a touchdown in each of the overtime sessions...His two-yard score tied the score at 14-14 to end the first overtime, and he opened the second OT with another two-yard score...Eachus has eight touchdowns in three games played this year, a 16.0 scoring average that would lead the nation if he had played in 75 percent of Colgate's games...Colgate's defense held on Princeton's first set of downs to preserve the win...The Raiders rushed for 218 yards in the game, and continue to lead the nation with 267 rushing yards per game...Colgate also leads the country by averaging 36:12 per game in time of possession...Jordan McCord had 65 rushing yards, while Greg Sullivan had 52 and a touchdown...Greg Hadley led the Raider defense with 11 tackles, while Colgate registered three sacks and a Mike Barry interception...The Raiders also blocked two Princeton field goal attempts in the first half...The Raiders play another Patriot League road game next week as they travel to No. 25/24 Holy Cross.
Georgetown The Hoyas dropped their sixth straight game to begin the season and fell to 0-4 in League play with a 27-0 shutout loss at Lehigh on Saturday...Georgetown has lost all nine of its matchups with the Mountain Hawks since joining the Patriot League...Isaiah Kempf completed 27-of-40 passes for 151 yards in the game, and the freshman is 20th nationally with 20.4 completions per game...Nick Parrish led the Hoyas with 12 tackles...His 66 tackles lead the Patriot League and Parrish is 18th in the country with 10.8 tackles per game...The Hoyas had -26 rushing yards as they were sacked eight times, and were shutout for the fifth time in the last three years...Georgetown heads into its bye week after facing Colgate.

After earning its first win of the year last week, Lehigh will try to close out its four-game homestand on a high note when it completes its non-League schedule against Yale...Lehigh has won four of six meetings against the Bulldogs, but will try to stop a two-game series losing streak as Yale won at home in 2006 and 2007...Lehigh scored a 28-21 win in the last meeting in Bethlehem in 2005...The 2005 and 2006 contests both went to overtime...Lehigh is hosting its third Ivy League opponent after losing to Harvard and Princeton...The Mountain Hawks are trying to avoid losing all of their non-League games for the first time as a Patriot League member...Patriot League teams are 12-30 all-time against Yale, including a loss by Georgetown and win by Lafayette earlier in the year.
Lehigh Lehigh earned its first win of the season and entered a five-way tie for first place in the Patriot League by shutting out Georgetown, 27-0, in the Mountain Hawks' League opener on Saturday...Lehigh has defeated the Hoyas in all nine of their Patriot League matchups...The Mountain Hawks won their Patriot League opener for the second straight year and 10th time in the past 12 seasons, and snapped their longest season-opening losing skid since 1982...Lehigh opened up a 20-0 lead by halftime....Chris Lum threw three touchdown passes in the game, while Jay Campbell ran for 111 yards on 20 carries...The Lehigh defense recorded eight sacks and limited Georgetown to -26 rushing yards...Four players combined for the sacks, with Matt Cohen leading the way with three...Lehigh has 20 sacks this year, leading the Patriot League and placing fourth nationally...The Mountain Hawks have all Patriot League games remaining after Yale, beginning with a trip to Bucknell on Oct. 24.

Fordham The Rams earned their second consecutive home victory on Saturday, jumping out to a 28-0 lead by halftime and cruising to a 35-7 win over Bryant...Fordham was the first Patriot League team to face Bryant, in its second season at the Division I level...The outcome also gives the Patriot League a 4-2 final record in games against the Northeast Conference this season...John Skelton went 18-for-32 with 183 passing yards and also scored on a 34-yard touchdown rush...He in the top five nationally in passing yards and total offense per game this season...Both of the touchdown passes were to his brother, Stephen, who hauled in eight receptions for 74 yards in the game...The Rams held a 427-219 advantage in total offense, which included 244 rushing yards...Xavier Martin led the way with 122 yards on the ground....Fordham is second nationally with 480 yards of total offense per game this season, ranking in the top 20 in both rushing and passing...The Rams stay on the road as they return to Patriot League action on Oct. 24 with a trip to Lafayette.

Lafayette will try to complete a sweep of its four-game swing against Ivy League foes when the Leopards visit Harvard on Saturday...Lafayette has defeated Penn, Yale and Columbia in the past three weeks...The Leopards have won four straight against Ivy League competition since losing at home against Harvard, 27-13, on Oct. 4, 2008...Harvard has dominated the series overall, as the Crimson have won eight straight meetings against the Leopards...Lafayette's last win was a 17-7 triumph in Cambridge in 1996, the only Leopard road victory in the series...Lafayette is trying to win four games in a row overall for the first time since claiming their last four games to win the 2006 Patriot League title...Patriot League teams are 25-31 all-time against Harvard, with a win for Holy Cross and loss for Lehigh this year.
Lafayette The Leopards knocked off Columbia in dramatic fashion on Saturday, with Maurice White's two-yard touchdown run with 13 seconds remaining giving Lafayette a 24-21 victory and completing a comeback from a 21-10 halftime deficit...Lafayette beat Columbia for an eighth consecutive meeting, and improved to 14-0-1 all-time against the Lions in Easton...It was also Lafayette's fourth straight win against an Ivy League opponent, with the past three in consecutive weeks against Penn, Yale and Columbia to compile a three-game winning streak...The winning touchdown capped a 13-play, 88-yard drive that included 19 and 32-yard completions from Rob Curley to Greg Stripe to get the Leopards in the red zone, and a pass interference call to place the ball at the three...Lafayette held a 405-294 edge in total offense, 26-12 advantage in first downs and had more than 36 minutes in time of possession...The Leopards are up to eighth nationally in time of possession at 33:38...White ran for 50 yards and two touchdowns, while Curley completed 23-of-39 passes for 287 yards and a score to overcome three interceptions...Michael Schmidlein led the defense with 10 tackles and three tackles for loss, and leads the Patriot League with 11.0 tackles per game this year...Lafayette begins a three-game Patriot League homestand when it takes on Fordham on Oct. 24, followed by Bucknell on Oct. 31 and No. 17/18 Colgate on Nov. 7.

Holy Cross The Crusaders suffered their first loss of the season as they fell to Brown, 34-31, on Saturday...The Bears scored the winning points on a field goal with three seconds left after Holy Cross had rallied from a 31-17 fourth-quarter deficit...The Crusaders fell to Brown for the first time since 1995 and saw their three-game series win streak come to an end...The loss also snapped Holy Cross' longest season-opening winning streak since 1991...Dominic Randolph went 38-of-53 for 411 yards and four touchdowns in the game, and also ran for 38 yards to produce 449 of Holy Cross' 465 yards of total offense...Randolph ended his career against Brown with 1,574 passing yards and 18 touchdowns in four starts...He is in the top 11 in FCS annals in passing yards, total offense and touchdowns, and leads the nation in passing yards and total offense per game this season...After Brown scored 24 straight points to take a 31-17 lead, Randolph threw touchdown passes of 13 and 30 yards to Rob Koster to tie the score at 31-apiece with 1:49 to play...Luke Chmelinksi caught nine passes for 117 yards in the game, while Freddie Santana had seven receptions for 95 yards and Koster had five for 70 yards and the two scores...Marcus Rodriguez led the Holy Cross defense with 12 tackles...Holy Cross has only Patriot League games remaining after this week, beginning with a clash against defending Patriot League champion and No. 17/18 Colgate in Worcester on Oct. 24.
