CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Three Patriot League football teams began their season on the road on Saturday, and none were able to come with a victory as Colgate, Georgetown and Holy Cross all opened with a loss.
The Raiders made the trip out to Colorado Springs for a matchup with FBS Air Force, and were knocked off 38-13. The Hoyas and Crusaders both suffered gut-wrenching defeats at Northeast Conference opponents. Georgetown held a 21-7 halftime lead at Wagner before the Seahawks stormed back after intermission for a 28-21 victory. Holy Cross, which lost five games in the final minutes last year, had it happen again to open the 2013 season as Bryant hit a game-winning field goal in the final minute to post a 17-16 victory over the Crusaders. Holy Cross had a chance to win as time expired, but a 43-yard field goal attempt sailed wide.
Fordham also opened the season over the weekend, and came away with a 51-26 victory over Rhode Island on Thursday. To read the recap and watch highlights, go here
