His playing days will end soon enough.

Sean Whited knows that, and is more than prepared for it.

But the McKinley High School graduate, now starring at Holy Cross, can't hide his enthusiasm for having one last go around playing college football.

"Most of my friends have started their jobs and are out working, while I get to play football again," Whited said. "I feel real lucky."

Whited, a fifth-year senior for the Crusaders, spoke by telephone Wednesday from the Patriot League Football Media Day at Green Pond Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.

Whited was voted to the 2012 Preseason All-Patriot League Football Team as one of five offensive linemen. His team was picked second in the league's preseason poll behind Lehigh, which has won the title the last two seasons.

The 6-foot-3, 273-pound Whited also is a team captain, an honor he also had as a senior at McKinley.
