CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The 2012 Patriot League Football season kicks off with Media Day at Green Pond Country Club in the Lehigh Valley on Wednesday at 10 a.m., with coaches, student-athletes and media from around the League coming together just before preseason practices begin.
All seven Patriot League Football head coaches will be in attendance, along with select student-athletes from the institutions. The League's preseason poll and offensive and defensive players of the year will all be announced during the Media Day, along with the inaugural preseason All-Patriot League Team.
While the event is restricted to media members, fans can have their say at media day by submitting a question for a head coach or student-athlete to the Patriot League Facebook and/or Twitter pages. The questions will be used during the League's video interviews. The following student-athletes and coaches will be interviewed for video previews.
Bucknell: Head Coach Joe Susan, Senior Running Back Tyler Smith
Colgate: Head Coach Dick Biddle, Junior Quarterback Gavin McCarney
Fordham: Head Coach Joe Moorhead, Senior Linebacker Mike Martin
Georgetown: Head Coach Kevin Kelly, Senior Linebacker Robert McCabe
Holy Cross: Head Coach Tom Gilmore, Senior Offensive Lineman Sean Whited
Lafayette: Head Coach Frank Tavani, Senior Defensive Lineman Rick Lyster
Lehigh: Head Coach Andy Coen, Senior Wide Receiver Ryan Spadola
The video interviews will be posted on Patriot League All-Access as well as the League's Youtube Page. Twitter users can hashtag #PLFBmediaday to submit their questions. Facebook followers can go the Patriot League page here and submit a question in the comment section.
Followers can also keep track of the media day live as the Patriot League staff brings you updates via our Football Twitter. We'll unveil the preseason poll and All-League honorees from 9-9:30, and include additional highlights throughout the media session. Video interviews and photos will be available shortly after the media day.
The Patriot League football season kicks off on Aug. 30 when Holy Cross welcomes New Hampshire and Fordham plays host to Lock Haven. Two days later, Lehigh opens the season at home against Monmouth while Colgate visits Albany and Georgetown pays a visit to Davidson. Lafayette heads to William & Mary and Bucknell visits Marist in season openers on Sept. 8, with the Leopards and Bison squaring off in the Patriot League opener in Lewisburg on Sept. 22 at Noon on CBS Sports Network.
