- Georgetown University Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly has announced that 28 student-athletes will join the Hoya program this fall for the 2009 season. The newcomers come from 14 different states, including four from Pennsylvania, three from Georgia, New Jersey, Ohio and Virginia and two from California, Florida and Maryland, respectively.

"This is a very diverse class and we're excited to have these young men join our program," Kelly said. "The coaching staff has worked very hard and paid dividends with a strong class of student-athletes."

The biographies on the members of the Class of 2013 include a long laundry list of all-state, all-conference and all-academic honors. "We met all of the goals we had when recruiting began in terms of positional needs," Kelly said. "Our staff put a great deal of time and effort into this process and these young men, along with the returning players, should help us this season."

Georgetown opens the 2009 season on Saturday, September 5, visiting Patriot League rival Holy Cross for the conference opener. The Hoyas' home opener will be on Saturday, September 12, hosting Lafayette. The contest kicks off at 6 p.m. and will be the first night contest at home for the team since the opening of the Multi-Sport Field in 2005.
