Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll ![]()
Center Valley, Pa. - A record 155 student-athletes, including 2009 Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year Travis Nissley of Bucknell, were named to the Patriot League Football Academic Honor Roll on Friday.
In addition to earning the Scholar-Athlete award in November, Nissley is one of three student-athletes to finish with a 4.0 grade-point average in the fall semester. He earned the mark for the second time in his first five semesters at Bucknell as a mechanical engineering major. Also earning 4.0 GPAs were Nissley's teammate, junior management major Jason Vollmar, and Fordham freshman Craig Staub.
There were 20 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll list that also appeared on the All-Patriot League team, including 2009 Offensive Player of the Year Dominic Randolph of Holy Cross.
The mark of 155 honorees eclipses the previous high of 133 on the Football Academic Honor Roll last season. Bucknell led all schools with 31 honorees, followed closely by Georgetown with 30. Holy Cross totaled 26 student-athletes on the list, while Fordham had 23 and Lafayette and Lehigh each garnered 20.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
