CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Following a light post-holiday weekend schedule, Boston University sophomore Maurice Watson Jr. and Holy Cross freshman Malachi Alexander earned Patriot League Men's Basketball Anaconda weekly awards on Monday.
Watson had 21 points and seven assists in a 73-67 loss at Saint Joseph's on Sunday to become the second straight Terrier to capture the Anaconda Player of the Week award. Alexander was named Rookie of the Week for the third time after totaling eight points and seven rebounds in an 88-66 loss at Michigan.
Monday marks the final set of non-League games with Patriot League play set to tip off on Thursday. Watson nearly led the Terriers to a victory at Saint Joseph's by scoring 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting and dishing out seven assists in a 73-67 loss on Sunday. The point total marked a season high as Watson scored 11 points in the final 85 seconds to keep BU within striking distance. He leads the Patriot League and ranks 11th in the country with 6.5 assists per game. Watson is named Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week for the first time, and is the second straight Terrier to earn the award after senior D.J. Irving was selected last week.
Anaconda Rookie of the Week

Alexander had a solid outing with eight points and seven rebounds in Holy Cross' 88-66 loss at Michigan on Saturday. He led the team on the boards and is now averaging 9.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for the season. Alexander is named Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week for the third time.
