CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After a stellar outing in a win at Maryland on Saturday, the honors keep coming for Boston University senior guard D.J. Irving who was given the Patriot League Rockin' Refuel Performance of the Week award on Friday.
Irving made 7-of-11 shots, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, and hit 7-of-10 free throws to finish with 25 points in the 83-77 upset win. He finished two points shy of his career high despite playing only 22 minutes due to foul trouble. Irving scored 15 points in the first half alone and ended up with 20 or more for the third time in five games. He added two assists and two steals as the Terriers secured a winning non-conference record for the first time since 2004-05 and defeated an ACC opponent for the second time in three seasons.
Irving was named Patriot League Men's Basketball Anaconda Player of the Week for the first time on Monday, when he also received the Lou Henson Award as the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Player of the Week.
