Center Valley, Pa. - Bucknell won its third consecutive game and opened its home subregional of the TicketCity Legends Classic with a 62-56 win over Princeton on Friday. Navy fell at Albany, 69-62.
Mike Muscala scored 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Bucknell (3-2), which beat the defending Ivy League champion Tigers for the first time since 1996. The Bison took the lead for good on a three-pointer by Muscala with 12:54 to play, and used a late 6-0 run to push the advantage to 10 points before going on to the 62-56 win. Muscala made 8-of-10 shots both from the field and foul line. The Bison held Princeton to under 40 percent from the field and 9-of-32 from three-point range.
The Mids (2-4) dropped their fourth straight game as Albany built a 20-point second-half lead and Navy could not fight all the way back. Jordan Sugars led Navy with 14 points, while J.J. Avila and Donya Jackson each scored 12.
Four games will be played on Saturday, including Bucknell continuing its Legends Classic pod against West Alabama. Lafayette goes to Delaware, Colgate visits Marist and Army hosts Yale in other action.
