CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Lehigh senior C.J. McCollum became the Patriot League's all-time leading scorer while putting up 26 points in a 91-77 victory at Sacred Heart on Sunday.
McCollum is now up to 2,228 career points, topping the previous mark of 2,224 set by Holy Cross' Rob Feaster (1991-95). He broke the nearly 20-year old record with a pull-up jumper with 12:53 left in the second half.
The record-breaking day came in a blowout win for the Mountain Hawks (4-2), who were up by as many as 30 points early in the second half before settling on the 91-77 win. Gabe Knutson added 18 points in the win, while Holden Greiner had 17 and Stefan Cvrklaj scored 14. Lehigh made 32-of-63 shots and 12-of-22 from beyond the arc, with McCollum going 8-of-14 in the game and making 5-of-7 three-pointers. Lehigh won for the third time in as many games this week.
Colgate (3-4) had a difficult task as it fell 87-51 at No. 6 Syracuse on Sunday. The Raiders stayed within single digits for the first 14 minutes before the Orange pulled away. John Brandenburg, Murphy Burnatowski and Pat Moore shared team honors with eight points apiece.
On Monday, just one team will be in action as Lafayette visits Monmouth.
