CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Bucknell's first win over Penn State since 1976 and Holy Cross' record-setting double-overtime victory against Sacred Heart highlighted the most exciting night of the young 2013-14 Patriot League men's basketball season on Wednesday.
The Bison scored 54 points in the second half to pull out a 90-80 win at Penn State behind a career-high 25 points from Steven Kaspar. The Crusaders set a Patriot League record for points by outlasting Sacred Heart 122-118 in double overtime at the Hart Center.
Two other teams also posted impressive home wins, with Boston University routing UMass Lowell 91-65 and Navy overwhelming Goucher 98-47.
The midweek action wraps up on Thursday when American plays its home opener against UMBC at 7:30 p.m. on Patriot League Network.

Bucknell 90 at Penn State 80
*Bucknell beat Penn State for the first time since 1976 by holding a 54-39 edge in the second half.
*The Bison had lost 12 straight overall to the Nittany Lions.
*Steven Kaspar had a career-high 25 points, while Cameron Ayers had 16 of his 19 in the second half.
*The Bison made 28-of-46 shots and 10-of-15 three-pointers in the game and hit their final 11 free throws to seal the win.
*Head Coach Dave Paulsen won his 100th game at Bucknell.
*Bucknell won on the road against Penn State for the first time since 1968.
at Holy Cross 122, Sacred Heart 118 (2OT)
at Boston University 91
*Holy Cross set a Patriot League record for points as it outlasted Sacred Heart 122-118 in double overtime on Wednesday at the Hart Center.
*The Crusaders broke the mark of 116 that they had set in 1992.
*Holy Cross also set a League record with 45 free throws, breaking a mark of 41 that had not been reached since 1994.
*Cullen Hamilton scored a career-high 35 points in the win, while Dave Dudzinski had 26 points and a career-high tying 15 rebounds.
*Freshman forward Malachi Alexander put up 23 points and 13 rebounds.
*Dudzinski rebounded a missed foul shot and converted a three-point play with three seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 98-98.
*Hamilton put the Crusaders ahead for good in the second overtime when his three-pointer with 1:09 left broke a 113-113 tie.
*The 240 combined points also set a Patriot League record.
, UMass Lowell 65
*Dom Morris had a career-high 27 points to lead the Terriers to the easy 91-65 win over UMass Lowell.
*The Terriers begin the season at 2-0 for the first time since 2000-01.
*Maurice Watson filled the stat sheet with 18 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
*The Terriers shot 25-of-39 from the field in the first half as they built a 64-35 lead at the break.
*BU came just four points shy of the Patriot League record for points in a half, and set a school record for points in a first half.
*The Terriers had 23 assists and 12 turnovers while forcing 22 turnovers in the game.
at Navy 98, Goucher 47
*Navy earned its first win of the year in its home opener with a 98-47 rout of Goucher.
*The Mids blew the game out early as they led 54-21 at halftime.
*Brandon Venturini led the way with 16 points, while Worth Smith and Edward Alade each scored 14.
*Seventeen players saw action for Navy, with none going more than 17 minutes.
