LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior guard Cameron Ayers (Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy) has been named the Bison Athlete of the Week after leading the Bucknell men’s basketball squad to a 70-65 win at Purdue on Friday. Ayers led all scorers with 18 points in the victory, which was Bucknell’s first against a Big Ten opponent.

Ayers hit on 7 of 14 attempts from the field and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line, and he also collected seven rebounds, a steal and an assist while committing only one turnover in 37 minutes of action. He scored 10 of his 18 points in the second half to help the Bison rally from a six-point halftime deficit. Nine of those 10 points came on traditional 3-point plays, each of which gave Bucknell the lead at the time.

A Second Team All-Patriot League selection last season and a Preseason All-Patriot League pick prior to the 2012-13 campaign, Ayers averaged a career-high 11.1 points per game a year ago. He scored a career-high 23 points against George Mason last year, and Ayers and the Bison will get a rematch with the Patriots on Tuesday night at Sojka Pavilion. George Mason is coming off an opening-night win over Virginia.

Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. Tickets are available at www.bucknell.edu/Boxoffice or 570-577-1000.
