CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Boston University guard DJ Irving and Bucknell guard Cameron Ayers were regarded among the top Mid-Major players in the country when they were placed on the Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team by CollegeInsider.com recently.
Both senior guards enter their final season with high expectations and impressive credentials. Irving, who was also named a Preseason Mid-Major All-American by College Sports Madness, led the Terriers with 14.2 points per game last season while also recording 3.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per contest to earn first-team All-Conference honors from the America East. Ayers averaged 12.4 points per game last year while helping the Bison to the Patriot League regular-season and Tournament titles and earning first-team All-League recognition.
Irving and Ayers were among 25 Mid-Major players selected to the Lou Henson Preseason All-America Team. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball. The award is named in honor of Lou Henson, who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years.
