American University head men's basketball coach is pleased to announce the addition of Daniel Munoz to the 2009 recruiting class. Munoz will join four other incoming freshmen -- Mike Bersch, Jeff Holton, Blake Jolivette and Josh Snodgrass -- on the Eagles' roster for the upcoming season.

Munoz, a 6-foot 1-inch point guard from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was named All-County by both the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald in his junior and senior seasons. He averaged 11.1 points and 7.0 assists per game in his senior year, helping to lead his team to a 17-8 record and a runner-up finish in the district.

"Dan Munoz is a very skilled point guard who can score," commented St. Thomas Aquinas Head Coach Steve Strand. "Through his tremendous work ethic, Dan became one of the top point guards ever to play here at St. Thomas. His leadership and intense competitiveness are two of the intangibles that Dan possesses. American University signed a tremendous player and person."

AU Head Coach Jeff Jones added, "We are pleased to be adding another quality backcourt player. Dan is a throwback, pass first-type player who makes everyone around him better. He's an extremely hard worker and a basketball junkie who will fit in well with our team and our incoming class."

American University's men's basketball team is coming off their second straight Patriot League Championship and appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Last year's squad finished with a 24-8 record, including 13-1 in the Patriot League.
