NCAA Tournament Bracket

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - American will make its third appearance in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament when the No. 15 seed Eagles take on No. 2 seed Wisconsin in a second round game of the West Region in Milwaukee on Thursday at 12:40 p.m. on TruTv.

The Eagles (20-12) are in the field after winning the Patriot League title with a 55-36 victory at Boston University in the League Championship on Wednesday. American was the second seed in the Patriot League Tournament after going 13-5 in League play during the regular season.

American previously made the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons in 2008 and 2009. The Eagles fell as a No. 15 seed to No. 2 seed Tennessee 72-57 in 2008, and as a No. 14 seed to No. 3 seed Villanova 80-67 in 2009.

Patriot League teams have won three games in the NCAA Tournament, all coming in the Round of 64. Bucknell was a No. 14 seed when it beat No. 3 seed Kansas 64-63 in 2005, and won again the next season as a No. 9 versus No. 8 Arkansas 59-55. The Patriot League also owns one of seven all-time wins for the No. 15 seed against the No. 2 as Lehigh beat Duke 75-70 in 2012.

The Bucknell team which beat Kansas in 2005 then faced Wisconsin in the Round of 32, with the Badgers coming away with a 71-62 victory to make the Sweet 16. That is the only matchup for the Patriot League against the Badgers or any Big Ten team in the NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin (26-7) finished second in the Big Ten Conference and is the 12th-ranked team in the nation. The Badgers reached the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament, losing Saturday to Michigan State.
