CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After winning his first Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week award on Monday, Lafayette sophomore guard Seth Hinrichs added more hardware on Tuesday as the ECAC Division I Player of the Week.
Hinrichs had two strong games for the Leopards last week, averaging 21.0 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 65 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range as Lafayette defeated Colgate on Wednesday and fell at American on Saturday. Hinrichs had 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, and pulled down seven rebounds in a 69-40 win over Colgate on Wednesday. He then put in 18 points while making 5-of-10 field goals and 4-of-8 three-pointers and also pulled down eight rebounds in a 68-64 loss at American on Saturday.
Hinrichs has scored in double figures in 13 of Lafayette's last 14 games, and has six 20-point games this season. He stands sixh in the Patriot League in scoring (14.7 ppg) and third in three-point percentage (43.8%).
Patriot League student-athletes have now claimed the ECAC Player of the Week honor in five of the eight awardings this season. Bucknell senior center Mike Muscala took home the honor on Dec. 4 and again on Jan. 23 as one of only two two-time recipients this year. Lehigh senior guard C.J. McCollum took home the first award of the season on Nov. 28, the fifth of his career, while Holy Cross sophomore guard Justin Burrell was named ECAC Player of the Week on Dec. 11 to give the Patriot League a sweep of the first three weekly honors of the season.
Patriot League men's basketball teams tip off the second half of League play on Saturday with Colgate at American, Bucknell at Army, Lehigh at Holy Cross and Lafayette at Navy. All four games will be available on Patriot League All-Access.
