CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - American scored the final seven points of the game to improve to 6-0 in Patriot League men's basketball with a 66-61 victory over Lafayette on Saturday.
The Eagles edge a half-game ahead of Boston University in the standings, as the Terriers will take a 5-0 mark into their game at home against Loyola Maryland on Monday at 7:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. Boston University visits American on Wednesday evening.
Holy Cross and Colgate each scored easy wins at home behind dominant defensive efforts. The Crusaders improved to 3-3 in League action with a 62-41 win over Lehigh, while the Raiders notched their first Patriot League victory with a 63-41 triumph over Navy.
Four of the top five teams in the League standings play on CBS Sports Network over the next two days. Bucknell heads to Army on Sunday at 3 p.m. before the Loyola/BU contest on Monday night.

at American 66, Lafayette 61
*American scored the final seven points to rally for a 66-61 win at home against Lafayette on Saturday.
*The Eagles improved to 6-0 in the Patriot League for the first time, and won their seventh consecutive game overall.
*American had used a 13-2 run to turn a six-point deficit into a five-point lead, but Lafayette answered with an 8-1 stretch to take a 61-59 lead on a basket by Nick Lindner with two minutes left.
*The Eagles came right back on the next possession to go ahead for good on a three-pointer by Darius Gardner with 1:39 to go.
*Gardner made a free throw with 42 seconds left, and a turnover by Lafayette led to a Kyle Kager layup that extended the lead to 65-61 with 23 seconds to go.
*John Schoof led four Eagles in double figures with 16 points, while Gardner had 13 and Tony Wroblicky and Jesse Reed each scored 11.
*Gardner also led the team with seven rebounds and six assists.
*Gardner and Schoof each played all 40 minutes for the Eagles, who held a 32-24 rebounding edge and had 12 offensive boards to overcome 6-of-26 three-point shooting.
*Bryce Scott led four Leopards in double figures with 15 points, followed by Lindner (14), Dan Trist (12) and Joey Ptasinski (10).
*The Leopards were over 50% both overall (24-of-47) and from three-point range (5-of-9), but fell to 0-6 in the League and lost for the eighth straight time overall.
*American beat Lafayette for the 18th time in the last 20 meetings.
at Holy Cross 61

*Holy Cross broke the game open with a 16-0 first-half run and cruised from there for a 61-42 win at home against Lehigh on Saturday.
*The Crusaders improved to .500 in the Patriot League for the first time since holding a 2-2 mark last year, and won for the 18th time in the last 20 home contests against Lehigh.
*Lehigh held a 16-11 lead midway through the first half before Holy Cross' run of 16 straight points to take control.
*The Crusaders were up 27-18 at halftime, then opened with a 10-4 run in the second half and led by double digits the rest of the way.
*Malcolm Miller led four Crusaders in double figures with 14 points, while Malachi Alexander had 13, Justin Burrell scored 11 and Dave Dudzinski finished with 10.
*The Crusaders limited Lehigh to under 30% shooting both overall (16-of-54) and from three-point range (3-of-13).
*Austin Price was the only Mountain Hawk in double figures with 13 points.
*Lehigh lost its fifth straight game in Patriot League action.
at Colgate 63, Navy 41
*Colgate opened the game with a 14-0 lead and never looked back in a 63-41 win over Navy on Saturday.
*The Raiders held the advantage less than five minutes into the contest, and led by double digits the rest of the way.
*Colgate beat Navy for the fifth consecutive time while snapping its longest League-opening losing skid at five.
*Ethan Jacobs and Murphy Burnatowski each scored 11 points for the Raiders, while Austin Tillotson and Damon Sherman-Newsome had 10 apiece.
*Colgate shot over 50% for the game at 25-of-47 while limiting Navy to under 30% overall a 17-of-58 and just 6-of-31 from three-point range.
*Brandon Venturini had 11 points while Zach Fong scored 10 for the Mids.
*Navy was trying to win consecutive Patriot League games for the first time since 2011.
