American University men's basketball's Garrison Carr has been named the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. Carr averaged 21.5 ppg and 2.5 apg last week while leading the Eagles to two double-digit wins.
Carr and the Eagles opened the week with a 50-48 win at Manhattan on Dec. 29. In the game, Carr scored a game-high 21 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the floor and shot 5-of-11 from behind the arc. The senior was also a perfect 4-4 at the free-throw line against the Jaspers and tallied two rebounds and one assist. He followed that performance by scoring a game-high 22 points in AU's 68-53 win over Brown on Jan. 2. Carr made 8-of-12 shots from the floor in the game and had a 5-of-7 performance from behind the arc. He also matched his career-high with four assists against the Bears and pulled down three rebounds.
For the week, Carr averaged 21.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 2.5 apg. Carr shot 48.3 percent (14-29) from the floor and 55.6 percent (10-18) from three. This is Carr's second PL Player of the Week honor of the season.
Carr and the Eagles return to action this evening, Monday, Jan. 5, as they host the Columbia Lions at 7:30 p.m. The team will then take to the court on Saturday, Jan. 10, as they open Patriot League play at home against Lehigh at 2 p.m.
