Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross senior righthanded pitcher Bobby Holmes (Dedham, Mass.) has been signed to a minor league contract by the Florida Marlins organization as an undrafted free agent. Holmes becomes the 126th player in the history of the Holy Cross baseball program to sign a professional contract.
Holmes appeared in 16 games during the 2010 season with six starts, posting a 1-4 record with a 7.89 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 43-1/3 innings. He earned the victory for the Crusaders during their 8-7 win over Bucknell in the opening game of the Patriot League championship series on May 21. Over the course of his collegiate career, Holmes had an overall record of 10-16 with a 5.97 earned run average and 125 strikeouts in 176-1/3 innings pitched. He appeared in 44 career games with 30 starts, and threw three complete games.
