Former Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High pitcher Nate Koneski, a senior left-hander for the College of the Holy Cross, was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 19th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft Wednesday.
"It's always been my dream, I'm lucky to get the opportunity," said Koneski, waiting to hear word from the Mariners on a contract proposal and where he will be heading to begin his professional baseball career in the Seattle organization.
Koneski was a first team All-Patriot League and New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association selection. He was the 581st player taken overall in the draft. The Holy Cross baseball program has had at least one player drafted in each of the last three years.
