EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette freshman first baseman Alex Woinski was named to the 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team on Wednesday. The team is selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Woinski was one of four first basemen to be honored. The second team All-Patriot League selection led the Leopards with a .326 batting average and 12 doubles. He was second on the team with 29 hits and 20 runs batted in. The Paramus, N.J. native was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week in the final week of the season after going 5-for-9 with three doubles and four RBIs.

The rookie started in 27 of the 31 games he played in 2014, seeing time as a designated hitter. In conference play he started all 18 games, leading the team in batting average (.351), on-base percentage (.448) and doubles (7).
