Senior catcher J.T. Watkins will take Army baseball fans on a journey throughout the 2012 season through his blog Behind the Plate. Watkins, who is serving as one of the Black Knights' co-captains this year, is a two-time All-Patriot League selection. Check back weekly to follow along with the inside happenings of the Army baseball team.

It's been a long season, but everything we have done up to this point has prepared us for this weekend's Patriot League Championship Series. We have the opportunity to play against Holy Cross, who has been our toughest opponent this year in conference no doubt. We didn't start off too well last weekend, but everyone settled in, and we managed to get a couple wins. Lafayette certainly fought hard, and the atmosphere was great to be a part of.

The long time between the semifinals and finals makes it a little difficult to be patient, especially because this is what we have wanted all year long for...a chance to win a championship. Our hard work and preparation this week will hopefully set us up for success when it matters most. We're looking forward to getting back out there and competing against a great team.

ABF,
