Center Valley, Pa. - After debuting with live coverage during last week's semifinals, the Patriot League Twitter page will return with updates from the Baseball Championship Series between Lafayette and Army this weekend at Doubleday Field in West Point.
The Patriot League Baseball Championship Series begins on Saturday at Noon with a doubleheader from West Point pitting No. 4 Lafayette and No. 2 Army. The teams will play a single game, if necessary, on Sunday at 1 p.m. Each Tournament game will be nine innings long.
Patriot League Media Relations Director Matt Dougherty will be providing updates at the League's Twitter page, available at www.twitter.com/patriotleague. The page debuted recently with links to all Patriot League releases and news items, but will include on-site updates for the second weekend in a row.
Twitter is a free social networking and mirco-blogging service that allows users to communicate and stay connected through quick 140 character messages, similar to a Facebook status update. Users will be able to receive news instantly via mobile phone, instant messaging (IM), Facebook or through e-mail.
In addition to the League's Twitter page, the series can be followed through multiple options provided by each of the teams. Army will be writing updates at its Twitter page ( www.twitter.com/ArmyAthletics) as well as providing a live blog and live stats via www.goarmysports.com. A video stream for the contests is also available at the site through Army's subscription-based ITT Knight Vision, which will include the Army Sports Network's call of the game featuring Rich DeMarco. The radio broadcast will be available in the Hudson Valley on WBNR (1260AM), WLNA (1420AM) and WGHQ (920 AM). Lafayette will offer the series through its Facebook page and on Twitter through the use of the Go Leopards account.
