CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Colgate senior Elise DeRoo was selected as the Patriot League Women's Cross Country Female Scholar-Athlete for the second time in her collegiate career and she was one of seven women named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on Tuesday. The awards were voted on by cross country sports information directors in the Patriot League.
DeRoo joins Army senior Chelsea Prahl, Bucknell junior Caroline Tolli, Lafayette sophomore Rose Willey, Lehigh senior Katherine Pierce, Navy junior Brigid Byrne and Navy senior Katie Taylor as members of the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
DeRoo was the Scholar-Athlete in cross country last season, and she has won it three other times, twice in indoor track and field and once in outdoor track and field. She also was the Patriot League's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2010-11.
The Newtown, Conn., native has a cumulative GPA of 3.97 in molecular biology. She recorded a 4.15 GPA last season and was one of seven student-athletes honored with a GPA higher than 4.0. DeRoo finished third at this year's Patriot League Cross Country Championships after winning two straight individual titles in 2009 and 2010.
Tolli and Willey each boast cumulative GPAs of 4.00, leading the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Tolli is an education/Spanish major with a minor in religion. Willey is a mathematics/economics major.
Byrne has a 3.87 GPA in English and her teammate Taylor has a 3.59 GPA in ocean engineering.

DeRoo, Pierce and Byrne are all on the Academic All-Patriot League Team for the second times in their careers.
The Academic All-Patriot League Team was added for all sports beginning in the 2010-11 season to honor additional student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The Women's Cross Country Academic All-Patriot League Team has seven student-athletes to equal the size of the sport's All-Patriot League first team.
