Center Valley, Pa. -- Lehigh sophomore Victor Vientos (Matawan, N.J./St. John Vianney) and American junior Keira Carlstrom (Oakton, Va./Oakton) were selected by the League office as the Patriot League Cross Country Runners of the Week for the Sept. 1-12 time period.
Vientos is the Men's Runner of the Week after winning the individual title and helping the Mountain Hawks to the team crown at the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Championships Sept. 3. The sophomore crossed the finish line with a time of 26:05.0, which was one second quicker than teammate Brendan Glover. Vientos led a pack of Lehigh runners that took eight of the top 13 spots in the race. Joining the Mountain Hawks at the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Championships were Lafayette, Kutztown, Muhlenburg and DeSales.
Carlstrom takes home Women's Runner of the Week honors after winning the individual title at the season-opening Mount St. Mary's Invitational. The junior, who won the Patriot League individual crown a year ago, crossed the finish line with a time of 17:37.35, outdistancing the field by more than 40 seconds. Carlstrom also set a personal best time in the race. Other teams participating in the Mount St. Mary's Invitational were UMBC, Maryland and Navy.
