Center Valley, Pa,- Patriot League teams ran extremely well in this weekend's meets, taking numerous titles with none finishing below second place. The Bucknell Bison took the Detroit Titan Invitational title for the first time in four attempts, and in Connecticut, Holy Cross opened their season with both the men and women's teams winning the Blue Devil Invitational titles. The teams from Navy swept the Fordham Invitational, while there were no team scores for Colgate's Henry Lang Invitational. Student-athletes from Navy, Holy Cross and Bucknell won Patriot League Runner of the Week accolades.

Patriot League Male Runner of the Week
Bill Prom, Navy Sr., New Berlin, Wis.
Prom led the Midshipmen across the finish line for the first time in his career, finishing third of 176 runners with a time of 26:55.45 in the 8k in this weekend's Fordham Invitational. Prom finished just 26.9 seconds behind individual champion Edgar Kosgey's time from Williams, while leading the Mids to the team title.
Patriot League Female Runner of the Week
Amy Watson, Navy Jr., Hampstead, Md.
Watson led the Mids across the finish line for the second-straight week at the Fordham Invitational, placing second of 233 runners to Cheyenne Ogletree of Rutgers, a competitor at last season's NCAA Championship. Watson led the Mids to their first first-place team finish with her time of 18:45.12 in the 5k.
Patriot League Male Rookie of the Week
Cory Loftis, Holy Cross Fr., Branford, Conn.
Loftis finished sixth overall in the men's 8k with a time of 28:06 in his first collegiate meet. Loftis helped lead the Crusaders to a team title at the Blue Devil Invitational.
Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week
Caitlin Cavanaugh, Bucknell Fr., Danville, Pa.
Cavanaugh was the top finisher for the Bison at the Detroit Titan Invitational, finishing sixth overall with a time of 18:15. Cavanaugh helped lead Bucknell to a second-place finish at the meet to Division I powerhouse Michigan.

Patriot League Teams Place High in Weekend Meets
Patriot League teams ran extremely well in this weekend's meets, taking numerous titles with none finishing below second place. Bucknell ran in the Detroit Titan Invitational, an event founded by Head Coach Kevin Donner. The Bison men took the Invitational title for the first time in four attempts, led by a strong performance by Andrew Huebner. Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week Caitlin Cavanaugh led the women's team to a second-place finish behind Michigan. In Connecticut, Holy Cross opened their season with both the men and women's team winning the Blue Devil Invitational titles. Kyle Rougeot finished third overall in the five-mile run, while Paige Sutherland finished second overall in the women's 5k. Navy swept the Fordham Invitational behind strong running from Patriot League Male Runner of the Week Bill Prom and Patriot League Female Runner of the Week Amy Watson. It was the Navy men's fourth all-time Fordham Invitational victory and the Navy women's first Fordham title. There were no team scores for Colgate's Henry Lang Invitational.
Freshmen Impress At Weekend Meets
The future of Patriot League Cross Country looks bright, based on the performances of freshmen runners at this weekend's meets. On the men's side, Holy Cross' Cory Loftis, Navy's Dominic DellaPelle, Bucknell's Dave Brown and Colgate's Andrew Gorman all had big-time finishes. Loftis was selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week after finishing sixth overall at the Blue Devil Invitational in the 8k, while Navy's DellaPelle finished 16th of 176 runners and helped lead Navy to a fourth Fordham Invitational title. Dave Brown of Bucknell finished 23rd in the four-mile race at the Detroit Titan Invitational, and though there were no team scores at the Henry Lang Invitational, freshman Andrew Gorman finished 12th overall in the 6k race.
For the women, Bucknell's Caitlin Cavanaugh, Navy's Jess Palacio, Holy Cross' Paige Sutherland and Colgate's Chelsea Burns and Elise DeRoo proved that even newcomers can impact big races. Cavanaugh was selected as Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week after leading her team to an impressive second-place finish at the Detroit Invitational, finishing sixth overall. Jess Palacio finished seventh overall at the Fordham meet and has finished in that spot in both of Navy's meets this year. Sutherland finished second overall for the Crusaders at the Blue Devil Invitational. Colgate freshmen Burns and DeRoo paced the Raiders with fourth- and fifth-place overall finishes in the team meet unscored Henry Lang Invitational.
2008 PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2008 Patriot League Cross Country Championships will take place on Nov. 1 at Lehigh University. The top-14 finishers in both the men and women's race will be awarded All-Patriot League status, with the top-seven being named to the First-Team and the next seven earning Second-Team recognition.
Team Notebooks
American had no scheduled events this week. American will next compete at the Navy Invitational September 13.
Army had no scheduled events this week. The Black Knights will host Cornell in a September 12 meet.
Bucknell men finished first of 13 and the women finished second of 13 at the 22nd Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational. The men took home the Invitational title, while the women finished second behind powerhouse Michigan. Bucknell will run again September 20.
Colgate kicked off the 2008 season by hosting the Henry Lang Invitational. The men's team finished in second place behind Syracuse in the 6k race, while the women's team finished second in the 4,200 meter race.
Holy Cross won the Blue Devil Invitational for the second consecutive year this weekend. Junior Kyle Rougeot and freshman Paige Sutherland were the top finishers for the Crusaders. Holy Cross does not run again until September 19.
Lafayette had no scheduled events this week. The Leopards travel
to Bethlehem on September 13 for a meet with rival Lehigh.
Lehigh had no scheduled events this week. The Mountain Hawks host rival Lafayette in a meet on Saturday.
Navy won its fourth Fordham invitational over the weekend. Both the men and women's team finished with over 50 fewer points than the
second-place finishers in the race. The Mids host the Navy Invitational on Saturday.
