Patriot League Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll
CENTER VALLEY, Pa.
- Led by Lehigh with 20 honorees, Patriot League teams combined to put 111 student-athletes on the Men's Cross Country Academic Honor Roll announced on Tuesday.
Bucknell (16), Army (15) and Navy (14) were among the six schools with double-digit representation. Colgate and Holy Cross each had 11 honorees.
All eight student-athletes who made the Men's Cross Country Academic All-Patriot League Team in November were recognized on the honor roll as are five of the seven members of the All-Patriot League first team - including Runner of the Year Tyler Mueller of Lehigh.
Army junior Andreas Kellas, an Arabic major, had the highest grade point average in the Patriot League at 4.112. Kellas was followed closely by teammates Corey Stewart (Undeclared) 4.097 and Trevor Lafontaine (Civil Engineering) 4.007. A total of 10 student-athletes achieved a 4.00 grade-point average or higher in the fall semester. The Navy trio of Drew Calcagno (Economics), Ryan Speir (Undeclared) and Billy Walker (Undeclared) hit the mark along with Bucknell's Luke Giugliano (Electrical Engineering), Colgate's Scott Walker (Undeclared), Holy Cross' Henry Dodge (Undeclared) and Lehigh's Kyle Leonard (Engineering).
Army senior Kendall Ward (Economics), the Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete winner, was one of six student-athletes to make the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth time. He was joined in that group by teammate Ricardo Galindo (Life Science), American's John Pope (International Studies), Bucknell's Eric Balaban (Biomedical Engineering), and Lehigh's Ryan Knouse (Finance) and Russell Vignali (Civil Engineering).
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
