Center Valley, Pa. - Navy's Bill Prom, the 2008 Patriot League Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 60 men's cross country student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Prom, a senior from New Berlin, Wis., earned a 3.80 fall term grade-point average in honors history. Prom was a member of the 2008 squad that shared the Patriot League title with Army. Two student-athletes from Lehigh both earned 4.0 grade-point averages for the fall term. Senior Leo Smith of East Rochester, N.Y., earned a 4.0 in computer science, while sophomore Steve Sample of Monmouth Junction, N.J., earned his 4.0 in engineering.
Holy Cross placed 14 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll, the most of any Patriot League institution. Bucknell and American each placed 11 students on the list this season.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different at each institution.
