The American University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Navy Invitational 8K Saturday morning at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The men's team finished the nine team meet in fourth place while the women's team finished fifth.
Steve Hallinan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) completed the course in a time of 24:05.00, good enough for the 12th fastest time in course history, placing him fourth. Carlos Jamieson (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland) also finished in the top ten with a time of 24:25.80.
On the women's side, Cathleen Ford (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y./Cornwall Central) was American's top finisher placing seventh in a time of 22:41.00. Other notable finishers were Kate Lilley (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's) who placed 13th and Greta Wicklund (Kingston, Mass./Sacred Heart) who finished 22nd.
AU returns to action next Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Iona College Meet of Champions in the Bronx, N.Y.
