Center Valley, Pa.-- The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the women's 2009 Division I All-Academic Track and Field team. A record total of 531 student-athletes representing 146 Division I institutions composed the women's 2009 All-Academic team. Among those honored were four Patriot League student-athletes. Bucknell's Sarah Bella, Rebecca Frey and Megan Hathaway and Lehigh's Sarah Serwo were named to the list, which was announced Monday evening.

Hathaway, a senior sprinter majoring in sociology, was one of 10 Patriot League women's track and field athletes to record a 4.0 grade point average during the spring semester. Frey, a pole vaulter, closed the spring semester with a 3.55 GPA as a sophomore civil and environmental engineering major. Bella recorded a 3.66 spring GPA as an undeclared freshman thrower. Serwo, a senior accounting major and middle distance runner, notched a 3.70 GPA during her final semester at Lehigh.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
