Hall of Fame Major League Baseball player Ted Williams ended his career by hitting a home run on his final at-bat on Sept. 28, 1960.

On May 30 Beverly Rogers concluded her fine collegiate career in the javelin at Bucknell University by setting a new school record at the NCAA Division I East Regional at Florida State University, Tallahassee.

A graduate of Ringgold High School and native of Finleyville, Rogers finished ninth overall at the Regional and her toss of 157 feet, 3 inches bettered her previous school standard of 154-3 set at the 2007 Patriot League Championships. The previous school record was 152-9 set by Heather Korhammer in 1986.
