Sophomore Elise Buffinton stole the show at the Lehigh Games. She set a school record with a leap of 12' 1 ½" taking first place in the pole vault. The record mark beat out her previous personal-best of 11' 9 ¾" and was an ECAC qualifier.
Lafayette had four other women earn first-place honors at the games as well. Senior Adedayo Adu recorded a time of 57.82 seconds in the 400 meter dash, beating out the second-place finisher by over a second.
Senior Erika Stasakova and classmate Sarah Welsh-Higgins excelled in the 1500m run finishing in first and second, respectively. Stasakova notched a time of 4:41.42, while Welsh-Higgins clocked in at 4:42.94.
Senior Joelle Neilson also took first, jumping 5.46 meters to take the win in the long jump.
The other first-place finish for the Lafayette women came from sophomore Allyx Hunsberger in the javlin throw. Hunsberger measured 39.37 meters with her toss.
Additionally, sophomore thrower Rachel Pena placed second in the shot put with a throw of 12.42 meters.
On the men's side, Lafayette boasted two first-place finishers. Senior Josh Sadlock and sophomore Mac Maguire led the way for the Leopard men in their respective events. Sadlock recorded a time of 3:59.02 in the 1500 meter run, while Maguire measured 50.98 meters in the hammer throw.
Sophomore Bill Leonard notched another top finish for the squad as his time of 54.84 seconds was good enough for second place in the 400 meter hurdles.
Next up for Lafayette will be the Patriot League Championships, hosted by Holy Cross on May 4-5.
