It was one of the most successful weeks to date for Patriot League student-athletes in the sport of track and field, as several surpassed the NCAA Regional Qualifying standard. American seniors Steve Hallinan and Kate Lilley, Army senior Brittany Greene and freshman Alfred McDaniel, Bucknell freshman Laura Rycek and Navy senior Darryl Hunter each earned weekly awards.

M-F Athletic Male Track Performer of the Week
Steve Hallinan, American Sr., Drexel Hill, Pa.
Hallinan earns his first weekly award of the outdoor season as he recorded an NCAA East Regional Qualifying mark in the 1,500m invitational race at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic last weekend. Hallinan ran the race in a time of 3:44.28, which is over three seconds faster than the NCAA Regional mark.

Kate Lilley, American Sr., Portland, Ore.
Lilley placed first in the 1,500m invitational race at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic this past weekend. Her time of 4:31.98 is good enough for the top time in the Patriot League this year, and is third on American's top 10 list in the event.

Darryl Hunter, Navy Sr., Des Moines, Iowa
Hunter wins his third weekly award of the outdoor seson following a truly dominant performance in Navy's Star Meet victory over Army. The senior, who had already qualified for the NCAA East Regional Meet in the shot put, once again surpassed the NCAA Regional standard with a toss of 17.38m. He also notched a spot in the NCAA East Regional Meet with a distance of 51.88m in the discus throw.

Brittany Greene, Army Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.
Greene earned her first weekly award of the outdoor season with a strong showing in the javelin throw in helping to lead Army to a Star Meet victory over Navy. The senior reached a distance of 43.76m to win the event and hit the NCAA East Regional qualifying standard.

Alfred McDaniel, Army Fr., San Antonio, Texas
McDaniel had one of the most impressive performances by a freshman this season when he won the long jump competition at the Army-Navy meet this past weekend. The freshman reached a distance of 7.51m, which is an NCAA East Regional qualifying mark. The jump is the sixth best in the East region to date.

Laura Rycek, Bucknell Sr., Northampton, Pa.
Rycek earned her third-consecutive rookie of the week award after her performance at the Bucknell Outdoor Games last weekend. The freshman uncorked a toss of 43.64m in the javelin throw, which qualified her for the NCAA East Regional Meet.
Honorable Mention
Paul Harris, Navy
Sr., Fairburn, Ga.
Harris recorded first-place finishes in both the 400m (47.30 seconds) and the 4x400m relay (3:14.86), which helped lead the Mids to a victory in the annual Star Meet with Army.
Patriot League Notebook
A Starring Role...
The annual Army-Navy Star Meet took place this past Friday at Army's Shea Stadium on the banks of the Hudson River. In the first meet of the day, it was Army women putting together a solid performance to take home a 119.5-83.5 victory. The Mids returned the favor in the men's meet, however, winning by a 118-85 margin.
NCAA East Regional Qualifying Marks
It is just over two weeks into the 2008 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field season, and several student-athletes have already snagged a trip to Tallahassee, Fla. for the NCAA East Regional Meet on May 30-31. Here are a few of the student-athletes that will be making the trip:

USTFCCCA Rankings Unveiled
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association unveiled the second set of national rankings for the 2008 outdoor season on Wed., April 9. Here's a look at where the Patriot League teams ended up:
Men
135. Army - 2.48 points
143. Navy - 1.47 points
Women
125. Lafayette - 3.86 points

2008 Patriot League Championship
The 2008 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3 at Navy's Ingram Field. To find out more information about this year's championship, please visit the Championship Page on the Patriot League website.
Team Notebooks
American
The Eagles had several outstanding individual performances at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic last weekend, led by a pair of senior mid-distance runners. Steve Hallinan earned an NCAA Regional qualifying bid by finishing the 1,500m race in a time of 3:44.28. Kate Lilley also finished first in the 1,500m race, running hers in a time of 4:31.98. The Eagles will return to action on Sunday, April 19.
Army
The Black Knights earned a victory in the women's Star Meet against Navy, while the men fell in the annual event. Several NCAA East Regional Qualifying performances were turned in by Army on the afternoon including Alfred McDaniel in the long jump and Joseph Nemeth in the shot put. The women won for the first time in three years against Navy, and were led by senior javelin thrower Brittany Greene, who qualified for the NCAA East Regionals when she uncorked a throw of 43.76m to win the event. The Black Knights will travel to the Larry Ellis Inivtational at Princeton this weekend.
Bucknell
The Bison hosted the Bucknell Outdoor Classic this past weekend, and had several solid individual performances. Freshman Laura Rycek notched an NCAA Regional Qualifying standard with a throw of 43.64m in the javelin. Fellow freshman Rebecca Frey earned a first-place finish in the pole vault, reaching a height of 3.65m. Andrew Yehl (110m hurdles), Drew Fitzgerald (high jump) and Ryan White (decathlon) each garnered IC4A qualifying marks in their respective events. Bucknell will host the Bucknell Team Challenge this weekend.
Colgate
The Raiders participated in two meets last week, facing off against Hamilton College mid-week, while the women traveled to the Bucknell Outdoor Classic this past weekend. Several of the Colgate women turned in career-best performances, including Ashley Mecone (200m), Kristen Meisner (heptathlon) and Stacey Marion (1,500m). The Colgate men return to the track on Tues. at Hamilton College, while the women will compete at the Moravian Greyhound Inviational this weekend.
Holy Cross
The Crusaders competed at the Bernard Solomon Invitational this past Sunday, where the women had 24 top-10 finishes and the men had 14. Junior Lauren Courtney placed first in the 400m race, finishing in a time of 58.92 seconds. Both the women's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams finished in second place. Holy Cross will host the Holy Cross Decathlon/Heptathlon this week.
Lafayette
The Leopards also traveled to the Bucknell Outdoor Classic this past weekend. Senior thrower Andrea Cerbie reached the ECAC qualifying standard in the hammer throw once again, reaching a distance of 52.71m. Kyle Clayton led the men with a personal-best total of 6,098 points to finish fourth in the decathlon event. The `Pards will travel to the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton this weekend.
Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks competed in the non-scoring Bucknell Outdoor Classic last weekend, and had several individuals earn top-three finishes. Scott Robinson earned a victory in the 400m hurdles in a time of 53.31 seconds, and followed that with a fourth place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.85 seconds. Nick Ray finished second in the shot put (15.88m), while Sarah Serwo led the women with a third-place finish in the 800m (2:12.55).
Navy
The Mids split the annual Star Meet against Navy, with the men picking up a 118-85 win and the women suffering a 119.5-83.5 defeat. Several Mids earned NCAA East Regional Qualifying Marks during the meet including Darryl Hunter (shot put and discus), Mark Van Orden (hammer throw), Ron Belany (long jump) and Andre Barber (discus). Erica Ziel won the 5,000m run in the women's meet with an ECAC-qualifying time. The Navy men will be off next week while the women travel to the Moravian Greyhound Invitational.
