West Point, N.Y. - Both the Bucknell men and women's squads are in the lead after two days of competition at the 2007 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship taking place at Army's Gillis Field House. Day two of the championship consisted of 12 event finals.

Three first-place finishes by the Bison men bolster their top place in the standings with 61 points through seven events. Tyler Hoffman won the men's weight throw for the second year in a row with a mark of 18.42m. Matt Forys was the winner of the 5000m event (14:19.26), while David Mante came in first in the pole vault (4.65m)

The Army men sit in second place with 54.50 points, coming up with two gold medal performances on Saturday. Brandon Lewis repeated as the men's heptathlon champion, having won the event last season. Lewis' points total of 5,062 is a Patriot League Championship meet record. Rudy Mejia recorded a mark of 7.16 in the long jump for first place. Mejia was the Patriot League Indoor Champion in the same event in 2005.

Navy's Cole Herron won the men's high jump with a mark of 2.01m. The Mids are third in the men's standings with 42.50 points.

Rounding out Saturday's action on the men's side was a win by American's 4x800m relay time in a Patriot League Indoor Championship meet record time of 7:31.91. Members of the Eagles' winning relay team were Alex Caudana, Dustin Emrani, Steve Hallinan and Brian McCabe. American has won the 4x800m relay the last three years.

In women's competition Bucknell, the winner of five-straight Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships, took a lead on Saturday with 61 points. Marjorie Grap replaced her own Patriot League Indoor Championship meet record from a year ago in the weight throw with a heave of 19.41 for first place. For the second year in a row Bucknell won the 4x800m relay in a time of 9:09.03. The winning relay team consisted of Offeibia Hanson-Hall, Mariel Fink, Victoria Gilbert and Christa Sawko. Other gold medal finishers for the Bison women were Amy Muntush in the high jump (1.73m) and Leanna Nastase in the 5000m (17:49.71).

The Navy women, who are third in the standings with 28.75 points, grabbed the other first-place finish on Saturday in Kirsten Andrews, who was victorious in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.93m.

Two female Navy student-athletes broke Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship meet records in preliminary and semifinal competition. Loni Forsyth ran 7.65 in the 60m dash preliminary, while Kirsten Andrews clocked in at 8.70 in the 60m hurdles semifinals
