CENTER VALLEY, PA. - Colgate freshman runner Danielle Whicher (North Reading, Mass.) was named the Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week after capturing first place in the 5, 000 meters at the Cornell Challenge this past weekend.

The race was Whicher's first collegiate appearance in the 5,000 meters. She took first by more than 14 seconds with a time of 17:58.46, the third best mark in school history. Other teams competing in the meet were host Cornell, Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, Binghamton, and Ithaca.

Whicher and the Raiders are off an running again this weekend as they head to Boston to compete in the Adidas Boston Indoor Games at the Reggie Lewis Center. The meet is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
