Center Valley, Pa. - Bucknell had a banner week, with the men's team winning the Bucknell Heptagonal and the women taking second. The Bison also had four award winners this week, with Kyle Anthony being named M/F Athletic Male Field Performer of the Week, Sarah Bella taking the M/F Athletic Female Field Performer of the Week award, Quinten Marcott being named M/F Athletic Male Rookie of the Week and Sasha Hornock winning the M/F Athletic Female Rookie of the Week nod. Navy and Holy Cross split the remaining two weekly awards.

M/F Athletic Male Track Performer of the Week

Cody Rome, Navy So., Eagle, Idaho

Rome ran the seventh-fastest mile in the nation this year at Saturday's quad meet in Annapolis, Md., crossing the line in 4:05.48. He also qualified for the IC4As and set a new Wesley A. Brown Field House record.

M/F Athletic Female Track Performer of the Week

Tiffany Reid, Holy Cross Sr., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Ried took first in the 55-meter (7.34) and the 200-meter dashes (26.81) as the lead performer for the Crusaders at New Hampshire.

M/F Athletic Male Field Performer of the Week

Kyle Anthony, Bucknell Sr., Barryville, N.Y.

Anthony netted his season bests in both the long jump (7.14 m) and triple jump (15.07 m) as the Bison dominated at the Bucknell Heptagonal. Anthony is now 4-0 in the triple jump this year.

M/F Athletic Female Field Performer of the Week

Sarah Bella, Bucknell So, Mendham, N.J.

Bella won the shot put at the Bucknell Heptagonal, and her 14.05-meter effort qualified her for the ECACs.

M/F Athletic Male Rookie of the Week

Quinten Marcott, Bucknell Fr., Wayland, Mich.

Marcott's 14.35-meter performance in the shot put was his second-best distance of the season. He took fifth at the Bucknell Heptagonal.

M/F Athletic Female Rookie of the Week

Sasha Hornock, Bucknell Fr., Dover, Pa.

Hornock was impressive at the Bucknell Heptagonal, where she came in third in the 60-meter dash (8.04) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (27.17). She also eclipsed her previous season best in the long jump by more than a foot. The Bison finished second in the meet.

Honorable Mention Performances Last Week

Christopher Boyd, Bucknell Jr., Gaithersburg, Md.

Boyd ran the 1,000-meters in a first-place time of 2:29.62, which qualified him for the IC4As.

Mark Van Orden, Navy Sr., Morris Plains, N.J.

Van Orden continued his stellar season by taking first in the weight throw. His 18.22-meter mark further improved his standing for the IC4As.

Kelly Cattano, Colgate So., Norwalk, Conn.

Cattano set a personal best in the 5,000-meter run (18:05.50) at the Cornell Invitational, where she won the event. The time is the second best in the event in the Patriot League this season.

Alexandra Doersam, Lehigh So., Islip, N.Y.

Doersam took first in the 200-meter dash (28.26) and second in the long jump (18-1) while also helping the Mountain Hawks take first in the 4x400 relay at the Lehigh Covert Classic.

Vincent Chiusano, Lehigh Fr., Rockaway, N.J.

Chiusano took third in the 800-meter run (1:58.68) and was just four seconds off an IC4A-qualifying time.

Patriot League Notebook

Bucknell Leads Individual Awards
Of the 24 individual weekly awards so far this season, Bucknell has claimed exactly half of them. The Bison have also won five of the eight Rookie of the Week nods, with four of those in the men's category. Army and Navy are each tied for second with four awards, followed by Lehigh and Holy Cross with two apiece.

Only Three Weeks Remain
The season is quickly drawing to its climax for all eight Patriot League schools. There are only three weekends remaining before the Patriot League Championships, held on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 19-21, at Army's Gillis Field House in West Point, N.Y. Seven of the League's eight schools will be in competition on the weekend of Feb. 12-14, just one week before the League Championships. American will be the only team coming off a two-week rest heading into the final events at Gillis.

Army Men, Bucknell Women Picked
Army has been selected to successfully defend its men's League crown this season, while Bucknell has been voted as the top team in the women's poll. The voting was done by head coaches and sports information directors around the League. Army, who won its 13th men's Patriot League Championship last season and three of the last four, topped the preseason voting with 96 points and 12 first-place votes. The Bucknell women, who finished second at the Patriot League Championship last season behind Navy, received 11 first-place votes and 93 points. The Midshipmen received five first-place votes and finished second overall in the preseason voting with 89 points.

Team Notebooks

American After a week off, the Eagles head to nearby Fairfax, Va., for the George Mason Invitational on Saturday.

Army The Black Knights had a week off and head to New York, N.Y. on Saturday for their second College Invitational at the Armory this season. The third takes place on Feb. 13. Army also has rival Navy on Feb. 6 in Annapolis, Md., coming up.

Bucknell The Bison were rude to their guests with the men taking first and the women second at the Bucknell Heptagonal. Led by Christopher Boyd's IC4A-qualifying 1,000-meter win, the men were 111 points better than second-place Duquesne. The women took five events in their second-place finish behind Shippensburg. The Bison Open and the Penn State National Invitational await both squads Friday and Saturday.

Colgate Strong performances in distance events helped both the men and women take fourth at the Cornell Upstate Invitational. Dan Gleason scored a personal best in the 3,000-meter run when he took second, while Ed Boulat posted a career mark in the mile. Kelly Cattano won the 5,000-meter run in a personal-best 18:05.50. On Saturday Colgate hosts the Class of '32 Invitational.

Holy Cross Tiffany Reid posted victories in the 55-meter and 200-meter dashes for the Crusaders, who were swept at New Hampshire. The men's 4x800 relay team was also victorious. Both teams head to the Boston Indoor Games on Friday.

Lafayette Kerriann Borke and Kyle Clayton swept the 60-meter dashes and Chris Pregler posted a victory in the 500-meter dash to pace the Leopards at the Lehigh Covert Classic. Christopher Parker also picked up second in the 800-meter run, and Sifiso Takirambudde won the 60-meter hurdles. The Leopards take on rival Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa., on Saturday.

Lehigh Stephen Tuntunjian qualified for the IC4As in the long jump and Ashlee Atwell set a new Mountain Hawks record in the pole vault as Lehigh enjoyed a strong showing at its own Covert Classic. The women finished first, paced by wins in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, while the men took second. Catherine Bigelow also took first in the women's pentathlon. The Mountain Hawks host Lafayette on Saturday for a dual meet.

Navy The Mids posted 10 IC4A-qualifying times (nine individual, one relay) in the quad meet victory over Rutgers, Temple and Maryland, with four of those individual marks coming in the mile. Andrew Hanko and Ken Bunnell went 1-2 in the 3,000-meter run. The women were idle. The men host the Wesley A. Brown Invitational on Saturday, while the women compete at the Patriot Games in Fairfax, Va.
