CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Individuals from multiple Patriot League teams posted ECAC/IC4A qualifying marks last week, but it was Navy and Boston University in particular that stepped forward with top performances.
The Mids had a pair of student-athletes post marks in the field, as Maressa Guynn became Navy's first ECAC qualifier of the year with a toss of 16.44 meters in the weight throw while Zack Duncavage posted IC4A qualifying marks in both the weight throw and shot put, where he set a personal best with of 16.41 meters.
BU did most of its damage on the track, where Stuart Ross had an IC4A qualifying time of 1:04.65 in the 500-meter run and Justin Flynn set an IC4A time of 6.91 seconds in the 60-meter dash on the women's side. Rosa Moriello, who won the individual title at the 2013 Patriot League Women's Cross Country Championship, continued to shine in the track season by easily setting ECAC marks in both the 3,000-meter run and the mile.
Guynn, Duncavage, Moriello and Flynn all won Patriot League weekly awards for their performances, as did another IC4A qualifier as Army's Clyde Wilson had a time of 2:26.26 in the 1,000-meter run. Ross was one of six honorable mention selections to set an ECAC/IC4A qualifying time or mark.

CLYDE WILSON, ARMY Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas
Wilson took first place with an IC4A qualifying time of 2:26.26 in the 1,000-meter run at the Battle of Beantown on Saturday. He beat the IC4A standard by more than two seconds with the school's top time this season. Wilson wins his first Patriot League M-F Athletic Male Track Athlete of the Week award for the indoor season.

ZACK DUNCAVAGE, NAVY Sr., League City, Texas
ROSA MORIELLO, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., Naugatuck, Conn.
Moriello won both the 3,000-meter run and the mile while setting ECAC qualifying times in each event at the BU Multi-Team Meet on Thursday. She beat the ECAC standard by more than 15 seconds while finishing with a time of 9:42.97 in the 3,000-meter, and topped the mark by more than seven seconds in the mile with a time of 4:51.56. She leads the Patriot League in both events this season. Moriello wins her first Patriot League M-F Athletic Female Track Athlete of the Week award.
Duncavage set IC4A standards in both the shot put and weight throw as Navy finished first in a Five-Team Meet in Annapolis. He threw a personal-best 16.41 meters in the shot put to win the event and easily eclipse the IC4A standard of 15.70, and placed second in the weight throw with an IC4A mark of 17.75 meters that topped the standard of 17.00. Duncavage is named Patriot League M-F Athletic Male Field Athlete of the Week for the first time during the indoor season.

Guynn finished in second place in the weight throw at the Terrapin Invitational on Saturday with an ECAC qualifying mark of 16.44 meters. She helped Navy to a second-place finish in the 15-team field and recorded the team's first ECAC qualifying mark of the season. Guynn takes home the Patriot League M-F Athletic Female Field Athlete of the Week award for the first time in the indoor season.

Flynn put up one of the fastest times in the Patriot League this season and hit an IC4A qualifying mark with a time of 6.91 seconds to take first place in the 60-meter dash on Thursday at the BU Multi-Team Meet. Flynn wins his first Patriot League M-F Athletic Male Rookie of the Week award.

Paris took fourth place with a time of 7.96 seconds in the 60-meter dash and ran on Boston University's winning 4 X 400 meter relay team which set an ECAC qualifying time of 3:49.75 to take first place at the BU Multi-Team Meet. Paris claims her first Patriot League M-F Athletic Female Rookie of the Week honor.

Ross set an IC4A qualifying mark with a time of 1:04.65 in the 500-meter run at the BU Multi-Team Meet on Thursday.

Neposchlan hit an ECAC qualifying height with a mark of 3.65 meters to take first place in the pole vault at the Battle of Beantown on Saturday.
STEPHANIE OKPOEBO, HOLY CROSS Sr., Chelmsford, Mass.
Okpoebo set a Holy Cross record with an ECAC qualifying time of 7.14 in the 55-meter dash against New Hampshire on Saturday, and also won the 200-meter dash in 25.92 to help Holy Cross pull out a narrow victory.
JIMMY MILLER, LEHIGH Sr., Ijamsville, Md.
Miller won the 3,000-meter run with an IC4A qualifying time of 8:25.96 at Lehigh's Angry Birds Invitational on Saturday.
BLAKE EDWARDS, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., Nashville, Tenn.
Edwards just hit the IC4A mark with a long jump of 7.03 meters to take first place at the BU Multi-Team Meet on Thursday.
BROOKE ASTOR, LEHIGH Sr., Milltown, N.J.
Astor had an ECAC qualifying time of 8.75 seconds in the 60m Hurdles at Lehigh's Angry Birds Invitational on Saturday.

Winning the Event
The Colgate, Army and Navy men each came up with victories over the weekend. The Raiders were the top finisher among four teams at their own Class of '32 Invitational, the Black Knights came out ahead of five teams at the Battle of Beantown and Navy won its own Five-Way Meet in Annapolis. The Navy women fell just shy of a victory in an impressive performance where they finished second among 15 teams at the Terrapin Invitational at Maryland.
Lafayette and Lehigh face off in Bethlehem in the latest rendition of their rivalry on Saturday. Last year, the Lafayette men held off the Mountain Hawks for a 91-89 victory while the Lehigh women posted a 97-84 win over Lafayette. The rivalry matchups continue next Saturday when Army visits Navy in Annapolis.
Three Teams Host Events this Weekend
Three Patriot League teams will compete on their home track on Saturday. Boston University hosts the John Thomas Terrier Invitational, Bucknell hosts the Gulden Invitational and the Navy men welcome the field to the Wesley A. Brown Invitational in Annapolis. Welcome to the Field
Boston University and Loyola University Maryland are both in their first season in the Patriot League, and thus are new to the track and field scene. The Terriers field squads on both the men and women's side, while the Greyhounds add a 10th member to the women's track and field competition.
Navy Men, Bucknell Women Picked First in Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Preseason Polls
The defending Patriot League indoor track and field champions each earned the top spot in the sport's preseason polls announced on Thursday. The Navy men captured 14 first-place votes and 126 points to come in ahead of Bucknell (109) and Boston University (102), which grabbed the remaining four first-place votes. The rest of the men's poll included Army (91), Lehigh (71), American (54), Lafayette (49), Colgate (25) and Holy Cross (21). The margin was similar on the women's side, with Bucknell also taking home 14 first-place votes with 155 points. Navy followed with 144 points and five first-place votes while Boston University had 130 points and the remaining first-place vote. The rest of the poll order featured Lehigh (116), Army (95), Holy Cross (79), Lafayette (63), Loyola Maryland (46), Colgate (42) and American (30). The 2014 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Bucknell University at Gerhard Fieldhouse in Lewisburg, Pa. from Feb. 21-23.
