CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Sophomore Hannah Failing (Deerfield, N.Y.) was honored as the Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Jan. 18, after she picked up two first-place finishes at the SLU Open over the weekend.
Failing won the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:39.55. Her time converts to 5:01.95 in the mile, which ranks fourth on Colgate's all-time performance list. Failing also led the Raiders to victory in the DMR. Failing, who anchors the relay team, brought Colgate back from 70 yards behind to earn the victory. The Raiders clocked in at 12:41.45.
The league's other honorees included Lafayette freshman Brian Vail, who was named the male track athlete of the week. Navy field athletes Ralph Lufkin and Jacquelyn Charnigo earned the other two awards.
Colgate's next meet is the Upstate Challenge, which takes place on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 7:00 p.m., in Ithaca, N.Y.
