Center Valley, Pa. - Patriot League indoor track and field teams re-opened competition after the holiday break last weekend, with seven of the League's eight schools in men's and/or women's action. Army had the most success in weekly awards with three winners, while Bucknell had two and Navy notched one.

M/F Male Track Athlete of the Week
Marlon Woods, Bucknell Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio
At the Gulden Relays, Woods' second-place time of 6.97 in the 60-meter hurdles qualified him for the IC4A Championship. He also was part of a first-place 4x200 relay team that finished in 1:32.65.
M/F Female Track Athlete of the Week
Carissa Hauck, Army Jr., Watertown, S.D.
Hauck won the 500-meter event at the Crowell Invitational, posting a time of 1:18.33, while also helping the 4x400-meter relay team take first.
M/F Male Field Athlete of the Week
Michael Hutchins, Army So., Saint Charles, Mo.
Hutchins took first in the high jump at the Crowell Invitational with an IC4A-qualifying 2.04-meter effort. He also took second in the long jump and was part of a winning 4x400 relay team.
M/F Female Field Athlete of the Week
Amanda Phelps, Navy So., Oceanside, Calif.
At the Delaware Invitational, Phelps took second in the weight throw with an ECAC-qualifying toss of 16.04 meters. It marked the second consecutive meet in which Phelps has thrown a career best.
M/F Male Rookie of the Week
Justin Hicks, Bucknell Fr., Wilmington, Del.
Hicks finished third in the 60-meter dash (6.98) and anchored the Bison's first-place 4x200 relay team that finished in 1:32.65.
M/F Female Rookie of the Week
McKenzie Majchrzak, Army Fr., Manistee, Mich.
In her first collegiate meet, Majchrzak took first in the high jump at the Crowell Invitational (1.60 meters), equaling the team's best high jump mark from all of last season. .
Honorable Mention Performances Last Week
Domonick Sylve, Army
Jr., Long Beach, Calif.
At the Crowell Invitational, Sylve finished first in the 60-meter hurdles with an IC4A-qualifying time of 8.20. He also took fourth place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.18.
Dominic Della Pelle, Navy
So., Kennet Square, Pa.
Pelle posted a first-place, career-best and IC4A-qualifying time of 8:19.44 in the 3000-meter event versus Princeton.
Kyle Anthony, Bucknell
Sr., Barryville, N.Y.
Anthony won the triple jump at the Gulden Relays with a mark of 14.86 meters, which also qualifies him for the IC4A Championship.
Mark Van Orden, Navy
Sr., Morris Plains, N.J.
Van Orden improved on his IC4A standing with a first-place 17.62-meter toss in the weight throw in the meet against Princeton.
Hallie Huggins, Army
Jr., Wasilla, Alaska.
Huggins took first in the pole vault (10-10) while also finishing first in the 60-meter dash (8.12) and third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.43).
Jennifer Pierce
Sr., Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.
Pierce anchored both the winning 4x400- and 4x800-meter relay teams for the Bison at the Gulden Relays.
Nick Ray, Lehigh
Sr., Charlotte, N.C.
Ray finished first in the shot put at the Crowell Invitational with a throw of 15.57 meters while also taking third in the weight throw (15.93 meters).
Team Notebooks
American After the men's team took second at the Delaware Invitational on Wednesday, the Eagles are back in action Saturday when both the men and women take the short trip to Landover, Md., for the Maryland Invitational. Jeff Brannigan, Alex Lyons and Conor Sullivan paced American at Delaware to secure the second-place finish.
Army Carissa Hauck, Michael Hutchins and McKenzie Majchrzak all performed strongly to lead the Black Knights at the Crowell Invitational at West Point, N.Y. Hauck won the 500-meter event and took first with the 4x400-meter relay team. Hutchins qualified for the IC4A Championship in the high jump, while Majchrzak won the high jump on the women's side. Both squads will take part in the Armory Invitational on Saturday.
Bucknell After strong performances at the Gulden Relays in Lewisburg, Pa., both the men and women hit the road for the Akron Quad on Friday at 7 p.m. Marlon Woods is coming off a strong performance in which he qualified for the IC4A Championship in the 60-meter hurdles.
Colgate Fresh off an appearance at the Cornell Invitational on Friday, the Raiders are set to split up as members of the men's team will head to Penn State for a two-day invitational Friday and Saturday. Others on the men's team and the women's squad will test themselves at the Syracuse Invitational on Saturday. Ashley Niness set a personal record at Cornell in the 500-meter dash with a mark of 1:19.79.
Holy Cross The Crusaders are coming off a busy weekend where the men split up to appear at the Crowell and Yale invitationals, while the women also competed at Yale. Tim Richard and Sarah Croteau each won the 5000-meter events at the Crowell Invitational. The squad splits up this weekend, with the women heading to the Sorlien Invitational in Kingston, R.I. on Friday while the men compete at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday.
Lafayette The Leopards have been quietly anticipating resuming their 2009-2010 slate, and will do that when the team hits New York City for the Armory Invitational on Saturday. Lafayette has been idle since the Lafayette Invitational on Dec. 4.
Lehigh Nick Ray took first in the shot put and third in the weight throw to pace Lehigh at the Crowell Invitational. The Mountain Hawk men head to Annapolis, Md., this weekend to take on Navy, VCU, Mount St. Mary's and UNC Wilmington.
Navy Coming off a tough 98-83 loss to Princeton, the Mids' men's team gets ready to host competition from Lehigh, VCU, Mount St. Mary's and UNC Wilmington on Saturday. In addition, the women will also be in action against VCU, Mount St. Mary's and UNC Wilmington, in addition to James Madison.
