The fall season schedule has been completed in the sport of tennis. Teams will be idle for the next few months before picking up the rackets again in 2008. Bucknell senior Ira Reibeisen was named male tennis player of the month, while Army's Kristin Beehler was named female tennis player of the month.

Male Tennis Player of the Month
Ira Reibeisen, Bucknell Sr., Armonk, N.Y.
Reibeisen led the Bison with a 10-6 singles record during the fall portion of the schedule, including an impressive 6-2 mark at the No. 1 position during the month of October. He posted an individual victory in the Flight 1 singles at the Bucknell Invitational early in October, and followed that up by advancing to the third round of singles play at the ITA Northeast Regionals. Reibeisen was also 5-2 in doubles during the month of October, winning three matches in Flight A at the Quinnipiac Invitational.
Female Tennis Player of the Month
Kristin Beehler, Army So., Wichita, Kan.
Beehler was solid during the month of October for the Black Knights, posting three singles victories and two doubles victories. In Flight 1 doubles, she was part of a team that won an opening round match before falling to a regionally-ranked tandem in the second round of the National Tennis Center Invite, held at the U.S. Open site in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Nick Birger, Navy
Fr., Belleville, Ill.
Birger won the D flight consolation singles title and the C flight main draw doubles title at the Oct.12-14 ODU Invite.
Patriot League Fall Tennis
See You Next Semester
The end of October marked the end of the fall season schedule for the seven Patriot League schools in the sport of tennis. Each of the seven schools will return to action either in January or February of 2008.
Individuals at the ITA
Each of the seven Patriot League schools that compete in the sport of tennis sent representatives to one of the ITA Regionals in October. Some student-athletes competed in Norfolk, Va., while some went to Princeton, N.J., depending on geographic location. Bucknell's Ira Reibeisen and Colgate's Martin MacIntyre were the individuals who advanced the farthest in their respective flights.
Team Notebook
Army
The Black Knights finished up the fall season by competing at the Cornell Invitational on the men's side, and the Dartmouth Invitational on the women's side. Sophomore Kristin Beehler was impressive for Army in the month of October, compiling a singles record of 3-2, including two wins at the Dartmouth Invite. In doubles, Beehler and partner Niki Flach had an impressive showing against several regionally-ranked opponents. Army will return to action in January.
Bucknell
The Bison were busy during the month of October, competing in a total of three tournaments. Senior Ira Reibeisen was the individual champion at the Bucknell Invitational to start the month, and advanced deep into the ITA Northeast Regionals to end it. Sophomore Tania Varela had a doubles record of 2-1 during October, including a pair of wins with teammate Lauren Lucido at the ITA Regionals. Bucknell will return to action on Feb. 2 at Duquesne.
Colgate
Colgate had three matches during the second half of October, including the ITA Regionals and the Cornell Indoor Invite. Junior Martin MacIntyre, the Patriot League Player of the Month for September, had yet another strong showing in October. He finished the fall season with a combined singles record of 8-5, including a trip to the quarterfinals of the backdraw at the ITA's. Sophomore Elise DeRose advanced to the round of 32 with teammate Samantha Inacker at the ITA's on the women's side.
Holy Cross
The Crusaders ended their fall season at the ITA Regionals in October. They also competed at the New England Championship in another non-scoring event. The women managed to squeeze in a match on the road at Rhode Island, but were upended by a score of 7-0. Holy Cross will return to action in the spring.
Lafayette
The Lafayette men and women played several matches during the month of October. The men finished with victories over La Salle and St. Francis (N.Y.), but could not get past Hofstra. The Leopard women were defeated in matches against St. Joseph's and Hofstra. The men will return to action Feb. 9 at Boston College, while the women are idle until a Feb. 17 date at St. Peter's.
Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks closed out the fall season by sending individuals to the ITA Regionals. In mid-October the Mountain Hawks hosted the Lehigh Tennis Invitational, welcoming five men's teams and four women's teams to Bethlehem, Pa. Lehigh will not compete again until the spring portion of the schedule.
Navy
The Mids competed at the ITA Regionals and the ODU Invite during the month of October. Freshman Nick Birger had a strong showing during the final month of the fall season, winning the D flight singles title and the C flight main doubles title at the ODU Invite. He had a combined record of 4-1 in singles competition and 4-0 in doubles at the event. Navy will be idle until Jan. 19 when they compete at the VCU 4+1 Invite.
