BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A pair of student-athletes from Lehigh's men's tennis team, senior Ty Esler and freshman John Nespoli were named to the Patriot League's Academic Honor Roll Wednesday afternoon. To be eligible for the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must obtain at least a 3.2 grade point average and be awarded a varsity letter in his or her sport.
Esler, the League's Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete in 2004, led the Mountain Hawks with a 3.81 GPA. On the court Esler was a second team All-Patriot League selection playing top flight singles and doubles. Nespoli wrapped up a productive freshman campaign, on and off the court, by earning a 3.23 GPA majoring in business.
In all, 19 student-athletes were named to the men's tennis Honor Roll, led by American University sophomore Jeffrey Schnell, who posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring, and Army junior Carl Fisher, who was named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
