June 30, 2009
Center Valley, Pa. - Navy's Jason Hill, the 2009 Patriot League Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 34 men's tennis student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Hill, a senior team captain majoring in systems engineering posted a 3.88 grade-point average for the spring term. His teammate, sophomore Nick Birger, is one of three student-athletes who earned a 4.0 grade-point average or higher for the spring term. Lehigh senior Michael Gordon also earned a 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in finance. Army senior Richard Houghton, a United States history major, posted a League-high 4.26 grade-point average. Colgate paced all Patriot League schools with eight student-athletes making the Academic Honor Roll. Holy Cross placed seven student-athletes, while Lafayette tallied six and Bucknell had five. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different at each institution.
