CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Accolades continued to roll in for sophomore Jamila Paul on Wednesday as the reigning Women’s Tennis Player of the Year was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team. Paul was one of six selected to the women’s academic unit, which requires student-athletes to have a least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key reserve. Freshmen are not eligible.

A life science major with a 3.456 GPA, Paul went 21-7 in singles and 23-9 in doubles matches overall to rank second on the team. Playing almost exclusively at the No. 2 spot in both disciplines, the sophomore went 5-0 in singles against conference opponents and 6-0 in doubles against league duos. The Bulverde, Texas, native has never lost a contest to a Patriot League foe.

The three-time Dean’s List honoree was also named to All-Patriot League first team on Tuesday, one of five Black Knights to collect all-conference honors. The Black Knights swept all three major awards, as Paul Peck was tabbed Coach of the Year and Natalie Allen earned Rookie of the Year plaudits.

Paul carries a 15-match undefeated singles streak into the NCAA Championship, which begins Friday. The Black Knights (22-6) will travel to No. 8 Alabama for a 5 p.m. (ET) match. Army is 0-11 all-time in NCAA Tournament contests, while the Crimson Tide (17-4) are 5-10 on the national stage.
