Center Valley, Pa.- Patriot League play is set to get underway this weekend, as the Army women host Colgate in the first Patriot League match of the season. Student-athletes from Lehigh and Army earned Patriot League Tennis Player of the Month accolades for the month of February.

Male Tennis Player of the Month

Troy List, Lehigh So., Calabasas, Calif.

List posted a 6-2 singles record and 5-3 doubles record in the month of February in his first season at Flight 1 for the Mountain Hawks. The sophomore has won six straight singles matches, and has not dropped a set since losing 7-5 to Penn State's Brendan Lynch in the third set.

Female Tennis Player of the Month

Anne Houghton, Army So., Sewickley, Pa.

Houghton continues to impress during her sophomore season for the Black Knights, turning in an 8-1 singles record and 8-3 doubles record during the month of February. The sophomore opened the month with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Rutgers' Amy Zhang, who is currently ranked 17th in the East. Houghton's eight singles wins in February brought her season total to 18, leaving her just six shy of tying her 24-win record last season.

Team Notebook

Army Senior Phil Muhawi posted some big wins for the Black Knights last month, defeating Stony Brook's Ivan Rummel, ranked No. 11 in the Northeast, on his way to a 4-3 February record. The Army women played 12 of their 14 matches in February at their home indoor facility, winning their last six matches. The Black Knight men play at Cornell on Friday, while the women host Quinnipiac on Saturday before their Patriot League showdown with Colgate on Sunday.

Bucknell Sophomore Mark Malloy went 3-1 in Flight 5 singles matches and 3-1 in Flight 3 doubles matches in February, while freshman Dumi Iepuras went 5-0 in her Flight 3, 5 and 6 singles matches this month for the women. The Bison women face Towson on Thursday at 2 p.m., while both teams will depart for Florida to play a series of matches over the next week.

Colgate The Colgate women have won their last five matches, streaking to a 5-3 record after starting the season 0-3. The Raiders' next matches are against Quinnipiac, Fairleigh Dickinson and Army. On the men's side, senior Martin MacIntyre went 4-2 in singles and 3-3 in doubles last month. The Raider men next play NJIT in Florida on March 16.

Holy Cross Both Holy Cross squads opened the season at 0-2, with the men falling to Coast Guard and Sacred Heart and the women coming up short against Albany and Sacred Heart. The Crusaders return to action March 20 and 21.

Lafayette The Lafayette men opened the season with a win against Rider before going 1-2 last month. The Leopard women lost the only match they played this season, falling 5-0 to Fairfield. The men's team hosts Fordham on Saturday, while the women's team will not play again until mid-March.

Lehigh The Lehigh women now stand at 3-5 this season after picking up a 6-1 win over Lewis on Tuesday. Lehigh's men's team stands at 4-9. Both teams will look to pick up wins against Stony Brook on March 13.

Navy Sophomore Owen Bullard led the Mids in singles wins again during the month of February, posting a 5-4 record. Three of his singles losses were to players from nationally-ranked teams. Navy will host UMBC on Saturday at noon.

2009 Patriot League Championship Info

The 2009 Patriot League Championships will take place over the course of two weekends during the month of April. The men will kick things off when they travel to Army for the 2009 Patriot League Men's Tennis Championship. The men's event will take place Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 29. The women will meet in Lewisburg, Pa. on the campus of Bucknell University for the 2009 Patriot League Women's Tennis Championship. The women's event will take place Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26.
