The Lafayette men's tennis team wrapped up its weekend in Providence at the Northeast Intercollegiate Invitational.
Sophomore Matt McGranaghan lost to Steven Nieman from Brandeis in the consolation round. Freshman Justin Haar placed ninth in the fourth flight after winning 7-6 (3) over Antonio Oliver of Marist.
Sophomore James Murphy lost his final match of the competition to Boston College's Brian Locklear. Marist's Michael Land defeated rookie Kyle MacLelland 5-1 in what would be the freshman's final match of the invitational. In the sixth flight, rookie James Sparacio fell 7-5, 6-3 to Nick Bolea of Niagara.
In the first doubles flight, Brett Kraft and Murphy forfeited their final match against URI's Jeff Cote and Jared Dorfman. McGranaghan and MacLelland defeated the Brandeis pair of Jason Sacher and Scott Schulman. Set to play Marist in their final match of the invitational, McGranaghan and MacLelland were unable to do so and no match was played.
The men's tennis season continues at the ECAC South at Lehigh on Sept. 22-23.
