Providence, R.I.- The women's tennis team traveled to Providence , R.I. yesterday to take on Providence College in a non-conference meet. In a very close game the Crusaders fells short losing to Providence 4-3. With the loss the Crusaders fall to 5-6 overall (1-3 Patriot League).
In singles action Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine) beat out Providence 6-2, 6-4 in #1 singles. In #2 Meg Moran (Concord, N.H.) defeated her opponent 1-6, 1-4 gaining a point for Holy Cross. Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) won the third point for the Crusaders with her victory in #3 singles over Providence 6-4, 6-3. Providence took #4, 5 and 6 singles to gain three points.
In doubles Providence dominated winning all #1,2 and 3 match ups for the point.
The Crusaders take on Hartford at home, April 17 for the last game before the Patriot League Tourney. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
